What Fag-Hag activity do you most Love? As a honorary gay man
(as dubbed by the Super Secret Society of Homos - it's real, don't
ask questions!) karaoke is one of the many queer joys of very
queer life. It all began with the Disney musicals I obsessed over as
a child. I would frequently sing such gay karaoke classics as A
Whole New World, Colors of the Wind, and Poor Unfortunate Souls.
Seeing as I had no 7-year-old drag queens to sing with, I was
forced to take part this gayery all by my lonesome. Life was cold,
lonely, and sad. And so it continued for many years, until one day,
while waiting in line to see a rerelease of the movie 'Liza wtih a
Z," I locked eyes with the most beautiful man I had ever seen. He
was tall, handsome, and wearing more mascara than Tammy Faye
Baker in her younger years. He told me my scrunchie was fierce. I
was in love! I never knew there were others out there who were
just like me :-) He was the first love of my life. The first of many,
and I do mean MANY, gay men to come. It began with singing Cher
and Bette Midler tunes in the car with the windows rolled down,
but it quickly escalated to more, much more -- KARAOKE!!! Could it
be? God had combined off-key singing, piss poor judgment, and
jello shots all into one venue??
